Yorke Peninsula to the Mid-North & Ted O’Brien on nuclear energy

I hope you’re having a great weekend. Bonnie and I have been busy mostly in our home area of the Yorke Peninsula and the Mid-North. We also had the opportunity to hear from Ted O’Brien MP on the Coalitions nuclear energy plan.

We’re doing our best to meet everyone in the Grey Electoral College. We want to understand your concerns and hear what you’d like to see from your next Liberal candidate.

This week we’ve spoken with nearly 100 members, continuing conversations around the lack of access to healthcare, the attack on agriculture, unnecessary mandates, roads and the cost of living to name a few.

Thanks for giving us your time, it’s very much appreciated.

A highlight of the week was the energy talk we attended in Balaklava on Thursday, where Ted O’Brien discussed the Coalition’s plans for nuclear power. Thanks to Rowan and the Balaklava branch for organising this event.

Key takeaways;

  • Zero-emissions nuclear energy will provide cheap electricity for households and industry
  • The communities and industries near the plant will receive further reduced electricity prices – great news for Whyalla, Port Augusta and Port Pirie
  • In addition to many well-known flaws, the ‘wind and solar only’ approach to energy is de-industrialising our nation, making us dependent on others
  • Labor’s strangulation of gas supply will lead to energy shortages.

This coming week, we head to the Upper Spencer Gulf before returning to Arthurton on Thursday, joining a round table discussion on regional issues and agriculture with David Speirs MP and Nicola Centofanti MLC.

I’m excited for the week ahead and the chance to speak with more of you. Please reach out if you have any questions.
